Hello Family!

8.26.2014

Well it's P-day again and a lot has happened in the last week. So on August 20, last Wednesday, I felt a prompting to go into my lesson with no written Spanish notes or anything like that. I followed the prompting and only brought my scriptures and a few other things. I went in and started speaking Spanish to a degree that I hadn't before. I truly experienced the gift of tongues.  I just opened my mouth and let the spirit use me to say what needed to be said, in SPANISH! It was so awesome! I've been having a lot of good conversations in Spanish with the Natives from south america here. I met a guy here who lives in my mission! His name is Elder Sanchez. He told me a lot about what it's like there and how the missionaries are. I'm excited to get there!

I've been reading the Book of Mormon. I just got to Mosiah and the speech of King Benjamin.

Oh and something else big happened. So our sacrament meetings are only in Spanish, and of course, I got called to be the first speaker this Sunday. The way talks work, is everyone has to prepare a talk and no one knows who's gonna get called on, and I was first... Luckily I had prepared a pretty good talk so I went up and spoke it then bore my testimony all in Spanish! The language isn't stressing me out at all. Honestly nothing is.

So on Monday we got two new investigators (they're just the native teachers here at the CCM). They're names are Christina and Juan. We teach them every other day. We taught Juan yesterday. It went very well. Juan has ADHD or ADD, the one where you can't focus. The companionship before us said that they could not get him to focus. So it was our turn, me and my companion went out to meet with him. I said the prayer, in Spanish, and shortly after begin to ask questions about him to try to find out his needs. We found out that he has a lot of problems with family and addiction in his life, but he wants to change his life and he thinks God can do that. When we started teaching the first discussion I felt a prompting to give him the Restoration pamphlet and let him look at the pictures on the pages that go along with the lessons. It worked, he became a lot less unfocused and really payed attention to our lesson and loved to look at the pictures in the pamphlet. Afterwards our teacher gave us feedback and told us we did AMAZING. He said he felt the spirit testify to him that the message we were giving was important and true. We committed him to read the scriptures and come to church with us too.

Sunday night we watched a devotional from Elder Bednar in Provo. He talked about how to be a Preach my Gospel missionary. It was awesome! Best talk I've ever heard about missionary work. My favorite part was when he likened us to conduits for light or electricity. Explaining how we are just conduits for the spirit to flow through us to convert our investigators. I really enjoyed his talk.
Overall my week has been fantastic. I'm not sick, the food is fine, and I can't wait to be in Peru.

I don't have many pictures this week because there's not a lot to take pictures of here that i haven't already taken. Ill take some when I get to go to The Mexico City Temple!

Now to answer all these questions you have for me! hahaha.

Mom, My companion is from Mesa, Arizona, and everyone in my District is going to Chili except me! His parents don't mind him serving a mission, but they are not members. He is currently working on that. He is 19. Ill have a picture for you next Tuesday! Sorry, they only let us take pictures on P-Day and I am slotted a certain time to get on Emails! So next week! The words on the mirror say, "you are my son and i have a work (or job) for you." I think.... there are a few letters missing. I am always busy. I never have any free time accept for on P-day and Gym time. My Spanish is getting to the point where i might be able to teach the first lesson without notes. Yes im ready to be in the Field. I"ll be excited! I hope it gets here soon! Oh and can you Email me Chelsea Dyers email, she wants me to write her, but i don't have an email to write. And I have TONS of questions for her!

Dad, that's awesome that President Johnson talked about my talk! I'm happy that other young priesthood holders get to hear my reasons! Sister Hansen is not in my District, nor have I seen her. I know I'll see her when I fly to Peru, she'll be on the same plane. I definitely can't wait to get out in the field.

Until next week!
Adios!
Love,
Elder Wilson
