Hola Familia!

Well it seems like you guys have had a great week and are going to have a great week spending time with the family! Well I'm going to make this email short because I'll be talking to you guys on Friday!

Down here in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, Peru everyone is getting ready for the huge parties and excitement that their going to have this Christmas! There's a lot more traffic and people are shooting off fireworks and eating lots and lots and lots of Paneton. I really like Paneton. All of the houses have their Christmas lights up and are decorating their houses with their nativity scenes and everything. Mila Zitting might know all about this. hahaha!

This past week we found some new people to teach and some of them went to church yesterday! It was awesome! This week we also have a baptism! We recently helped a family of less actives to start going to church again and the oldest daughter isn't a member of the church. She has been to church 3 times and now she's ready to get baptized! This week should be a great one!

This thursday I'll probably call you guys at night to set a time for the skype call on Friday! If I don't call, expect a call on skype at about 6 in the afternoon on Friday. Can't wait to see you guys!

I love you guys!

Hola Familia!

Well it seems like you guys have had quite a great week! Here in Peru I've had a great week!

So as you all know, my other companion had to go back home because of a health emergency and I've received a new companion! His name is Elder Jesus! He's from my group of missionaries so he's going to go home with me or in other words we both have 16 months on the mission. We get along really well, and we are working super hard. My compànion also knows how to speak English! So sometimes we just speak english. It actually is helping me to remember how things are actually said. You guys will definitely notice that my English is terrible on Christmas Day!

In our area we're working with a new Family that we found! They're super awesome! Its a family of 5! A Dad and his wife(girlfriend) of 20 years (They're not married), and they have 3 kids! 19, 11, 8. They need to get married, so that will happen in January or February. We are also working with another family that has plans to get married and baptized on the 15th of January. So we're nice and busy right now trying to get people married! It's tiring but VERY rewarding!

I hope everything is going well up there in the states, and that all of you are happy and doing the things you're suppose to!

Love you all!

Hola Familia!

Well it seems like you guys have had quite a great week! I saw the pictures on Dropbox, what Lily is doing looks awesome! She needs to stick with it so that she can get really good!

Down here in Lima Peru, I can at least tell you guys this much, this week has been a very good, busy, and bad week. So I'll start out with the good! This week we found a bunch of new people to teach and a really awesome family of 5! Were gonna work hard to help this family to get closer to their Savior! It was pretty busy with all the work I'm having to do with my District. In this mission, we have to visit all the members of our District in 24 hours every week! So I was busy doing that kind of stuff! We also have a baptism for this month. It's the daughter of a less active that has just been reactivated in Church again! They're really awesome! There is also a chance that we might marry a family of investigators that have been going to church for almost 7 month now. Here in Peru, to get married, you need your Birth Certificate. Their original birth certificates got burned in a fire, so they went to go do them about 2 weeks ago and if everything goes well, they should arrive here tomorrow and they'll get married this month! So, for that reason my week has been great and busy!

Now the bad- So that you all know, my companion had to go back home for a health emergency that he had this past weekend. It made me sad to have to see a great missionary go home for something that suddenly happened. Please could you all pray for him and his family. His name is Elder Hernandez. Right now I'm without a companion. I'm just hanging out with the Zone Leaders for right now, I'll probably get a new one tonight!

I love you guys a lot!

Cant wait to see you on Skype Christmas day!

Hola Familia!

Well it seems like you guys have had a great week up there in the states! I forgot that Thanksgiving was this past Thursday! Hahahaha! We were busy teaching and enjoying ourselves in the work of the Lord! I can definitely say that I wish I could have eaten Pawpaw's famous breakfast! I guess that will just have to wait for another time! That day we ate normal peruvian food! Chicken, Rice, and Potatoes!  Here in Peru, Christmas day the people eat Turkey, so I'll eat that this Christmas! I think its crazy that Christmas is already here, time goes by really, really fast....!

We've been working with an inactive family for about 4 months now. Finally they're starting to go back to church. They've all had interviews with the Bishop and the Bishop authorized that the Dad could baptize his daughter! She didn't get baptized when she was 8 years old, so we were in charge of her baptism. It was super awesome! The baptism really helped the family to want to continue to go to church! The Lord has really poured out his spirit on this family! They're starting to feel the Lord in their lives again and are keeping the commandment of the Lord. I took photos and the internet today is really slow, so you guys are just gonna have it wait to see the family! They're awesome!

So I would like to share some scriptures and how they can apply to us in our lives, They're found in the Book of John 15: 9-14. Here the Lord teaches us many things that can really help us to be more like Him.

As the Father hath loved me, so have loved you: continue ye in my love. (Here the Lord Commands us to stay in his love)
10 If ye keep my commandmentsye shall abide in my loveeven as have kept my Father’commandments, and abide in his love. (Here the Lord teaches us how we can stay in his love, How? By Keeping his Commandments.)
11 These things have spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. (The Lord has said these things so we know how we can have Joy in this mortal life, He teaches that if we stay in his love, by keeping his commandments, we will have Joy in this life.)
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as have loved you. (The Lord commands us to Love one another)
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friendsif ye dwhatsoever command you. ( In verses 13 and 14 the Lord teaches that he had such perfect love for his friends, that he gave his life for his friends, We can be his friends is we do whatever he commands us. So then, What did he tell us to do in the verses that we have already read? He told us to Stay in his love, Which we do by keeping his commandments, and to love one another. If we do these things, we will be his friends and will feel the love of Christ in our lives)

I have pondered these scriptures while here on the mission. They really teach that unless we keep the commandments of God, we can not be saved in his Kingdom, and that if we don't keep them, the Lord has commanded us to repent! (Alma 9:12) I invite all of you to repent of the wrong things that you have done in your life and to give it your all to be more like Christ. I promise that if you do so, you will feel the pure love of the Savior in your life, and a feeling of peace that only the Savior can give us! I testify that these things are true, for I have experienced it here on the mission, the pure love of the Savior, and desire that all might experience it.

Love you guys a lot!

-Elder Wilson
Alma 9:12
"Behold, now say unto you that he commandeth you to repentand except ye repent, ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God. But behold, this is not all—he has commanded you to repent, or he will utterly destroy you from off the face of the earth; yea, he will visit you in his angerand in his fierce anger he will not turn away"

Hola Familia,

We've had a pretty great week here in Lima, Peru and it seems like you guys have had a pretty great week up there in Alabama! That's awesome that you guys got to go to the temple! Here in Lima I've had the chance to go 2 times to the temple! On the mission I've had the chance to really see the importance of the temple in our lives. It really is the House of the Lord.

Haha! I completely forgot that Thanksgiving was this week! There are tons of reasons that all of us can be grateful. Just knowing English is one of the TONS of blessing that we all have. I promise you that the best way to be grateful is by helping other people and blessing them with the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. That is the best gift you can give to any person that lives on this earth. So go give it!

So this past week we worked and worked and worked and saw the spirit work in us and the many people that we teach. Without the spirit I can't do anything. I can feel It's presence within me and I can tell whenever it gets farther away from me and when that happens, well obviously I need to repent, and I do. We also had a baptism last week! It was amazing! The spirit was felt strongly and almost all of the ward was there! It was awesome!

Well this week we're going to work even harder than last week and find more people to teach and baptize! The mission is amazing!

I love you guys,
-Elder Wilson

Hola Familia!

You guys have had a great week! It sure has been a great busy one here in Lima, Peru! That's so awesome that Lily and Carter have won awards and that Maddie is starting to apply for college! Keep yourselves busy, doing nothing is boring! hahaha!

Well here in Lima we're looking for new people for the month of December. At the moment we have an investigator that is progressing towards a baptismal date for the 21st of November. It's the Grandma of the family that was baptized 2 weeks ago. We're working with her so that she'll be able to be baptized this day! Please pray for her!

Right now i can definitely say that I have had the wonderful opportunity to review everything that I learned from my trainer, again! We have to study a book called The First Twelve Weeks. In this book we learn all of the things we have to do to help an investigator become converted to the gospel. Right now I'm teaching these things to my son and at the same time I'm learning and reviewing a lot of things that I've already learned, and learning a lot more about those things. It's really awesome!

I'm okay and I feel really happy! I'm definitely the happiest I've ever been in my life. It's really great! The Lord can really change people. I've seen it in tons of people here and I've seen it in my life as well!

Love you guys!

Hola Familia!

Well it seems that you guys have had a great week! That's awesome that Samuel, David, and Justin Caires have made the school's soccer team! They need to practice hard to get better and better and better! Thats great that maddie has received a calling in the church! Now, If she magnifies it, the Lord will bless her a ton!

Here in Lima, Peru it's starting to get hotter and hotter, as we get closer to Summer, in the south part of the world! That means a lot more sweat, deodorant, and a lot more fun! Ha! Well, I hope that you guys are having a great time up there in the cold!

This past week we had a great time working in the field and learning more and more from our studies. My "son" is progressing really well and is starting to understand more and more of his purpose here in the mission. I'ts awesome! Today a lot of my friends are going home! It's starting to get really sad! hahaha! All the people I know are leaving! Well I guess it's just a part of the mission! There's always new people, so it will be cool to see who comes and who goes!

This week we have a baptism!!!! It's the grandmother of the family that we just baptized! Shes 69 years old and is awesome! She always invites us to eat food in her house and it's always really good! Peruvians always give us food, but I don't get fat.... I don't know, it's really weird!

I heard the world is a little more unstable again. Just trust in the Lord and keep his commandments, always repent of the bad things that happen in life and the Lord will bless you a ton!

I love you guys a lot and hope that you have a great week! This week is transfers but I don't have one! So I'm going to stay here for Christmas! Whoo!!!!! It's gonna be AWESOME!!!

Love ya!

Hola Familia!

This week has been quite busy and it sounds like you guys have had quite a fun and busy week up there in Alabama! Here in Peru, some families celebrate halloween, but most of the people think that halloween is Evil and of Satan. For example, the night before halloween an entire church went through the streets chanting, "Si a Cristo, no a Halloween" Yes to Jesus and No to Halloween. It was pretty funny and I'll probably never forget it.

So yesterday we had 3 baptisms! It was great! I took photos and I'll upload them next Monday because the computer I'm using is Windows XP. It was great and everyone was smiling and the spirit was extremely strong in the baptismal service. The family invited us over to eat lunch and Dinner. Peruvian food is really good! I'm just about convinced that it's better than American food.... hahaha!

As of right now, we have 3 people who are progressing towards a baptismal date. Two are going to be baptized this month and the other needs to get married. So we might have a wedding around Christmas time! How cool would that be!  It's definitely starting to get close to Christmas here. At Christmas time people like to eat a special kind of bread called Panettone. Its really sweet and each one has about 3400 calories. So I might gain a little bit of weight again. When I got here i weighed 90 kilos now im 82.... hahahahaha! I don't weigh anything anymore.

Well I hope that you guys have a great week! Please know that I love you guys! The mission is awesome and it makes me sad that it's starting to end. I don't like that very much. People tell me sometimes that I don't have very much longer. I don't look at it that way, but i guess that's just how the mission is.

Love,
Elder Wilson

Hola Familia!

Well it seems like you guys have had quite a great week! Thats awesome that you guys had the chance to stand up for me during stake conference. hahahaha! That's awesome that we have 4 missionaries in the field from the ward. I think it would be awesome if Maddie and I go to college together!  So that's my opinion on where she should go to school!

Last week was great! We had lots of chances to teach and help people to know more about their Savior Jesus Christ! We also helped a less active family attend church for the first time in 3 years. We had been working with them for almost 3 months now, and finally they went to church! It was amazing! I hope they keep going to church!

We had 2 baptisms last week! I put photos on dropbox! The baptism was amazing!

My son(my greenie companion) had his first baptism here in the mission! It was awesome!

A future missionary from the ward baptized the young man. I had the most wonderful time hearing their testimonies and the changes that they have experienced in their lives. It's amazing what the Lord Jesus Christ can do in the life of any person!

This week we're going to have 3 baptisms. We've been working with a family for about a month and a half now, and they're now ready to get baptized! It's a single mom with her two sons! They're twins! We've been helping them to know more of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and this Sunday, before sacrament meeting, they're going to get baptized! It's going to be great!

Well I'm great, and we're working really hard and being obedient to the commandments and were seeing the blessings from it.

Love you guys a lot!

Hola Familia,

Well it seems like you guys have had quite a busy week. That's great!  I don't have much time to write, but I'll try to let you guys know the important stuff that's happening here in Lima Peru!

This week we're going to have 2 baptisms! One of them is the husband of the couple we helped get married and the other is a 12 boy who is probably one of the most intelligent people I have ever met! They're both going to get baptized this Saturday! We're really excited for the baptisms and I'll be uploading photos of them next Monday!

So we're teaching another family of 4 that want to get baptized., It's an older lady, her daughter and her 2 children! Her kids are twins and they both are 15 years old. The two kids are very shy, but they're starting to open up to us, I think I'm going to learn quite a lot of things from them. They have a baptismal date planned for the 1st of November. Please pray for them so that they can progress and get to know their Savior Jesus Christ.

So we're working really hard and we are enjoying the mission a lot! So that's about all that's happening here in Lima Peru right now!

Oh, mom if you can put some new black socks and toothbrushes to last me about 9 months in my package, that would be great!

Love you guys a lot!

Hola Familia!

So it sounds like you guys have had just a great Fall Break! I've had a wonderful week preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ with all the people that we see. Transfers were last week and i didn't have one, but my companion did! He left and I got a new companion! He's a greenie! Im training him! hahaha! and at the same time I'm a District leader, so I'm going to be learning quite a lot this change! Here in the mission, the people that we train, we call them our sons, so I have a kid- his name his Elder Hernandez. He's from Bogota Columbia. He's awesome!

This past week we had a lot of success! Right now were teaching 9 people and 5 of them are progressing towards a baptismal date. We have a few people with goals for the 24th of this month. Please pray for them so that they can progress and keep doing the things that will help them progress!

I love you guys a lot! Mountain Lofts looks awesome! I have a few friends that are here in the mission that want to live with me there!

Hola Familia,

Well I sure hope you guys are enjoying your vacation time! I finished putting up the photos from our baptism! So you guys can go look at those. I also put up a photo of my favorite meal in Peru, its called Filete a lo Pobre.... its reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly good. The food here is actually really good, just not the Organs and intestines that they try to feed me sometimes.... hahahaha!!

The last week has been great. We found some new people to teach and had the chance to listen to the Prophet and the 12 apostols... (I dont really remember how to spell in english...) It was awesome to see 3 new apostols get called. I think it's cool because now I'll get to watch how they progress and see how the Lord works through them.

One of the things that I've really learned this past transfer is that this is the work of the Lord Jesus Christ, not the work of Elder Wilson or his leaders. We are just the guides or the tools that the Lord uses to advance his work. We help the people to do the things they need to do to get converted- saying your prayers everyday, reading the Book of Mormon everyday, going to church every Sunday, and living the commandments that the Lord has given us. If we do those things we will stop being who we once were and change. We don't change ourselves by doing those things, we permit the lord to work in our hearts to change us. WE HAVE TO ACT. We can't just sit around all day doing nothing and expect to be happy, to change, and be successful. We have to DO something. When we teach I always give this example when talking about the Atonement of Christ and repentance:

"To wash cloths we need two important things, Water and Soap. Through the atonement of Jesus Christ, He gives us the water and the soap free, for our entire lives, but just because we have water and soap doesn't means our clothes are clean. WE HAVE TO WASH. WE HAVE TO SCRUB. We have to take the soap and the water and scrub, scrub, scrub until our clothes are clean. Repentance is the same and through it our spirit is made clean and we are made truly happy!"

So transfers are today and I'll lets you guys know what happen next week!

Lots of Love-
Elder Wilson

Hola Familia!

I don't have very much time to write you guys, but I'll do my best to write something worth reading haha!

So you guys are going to Orlando! I don't remember if I knew that or not. What are you guys going to be doing there? Disney World? the beach? I hope you guys enjoy your vacation time! I really miss having free time, hahaha! In the mission we don't have any free time, we always have something to do!

So the wedding and the baptism went great! I put photos on dropbox of everything! It was awesome! The ward threw an amazing reception party and there are photos of that on the dropbox! The baptism was after and it was amazing!

This week we're going to go look for new people to teach and help strengthen the people that we have already baptized! Please pray for them and for us!

So that's really all that's happening here in San Juan de Lurigancho. Next week I'll probably have much more time to write since it is the last week of this transfer.

Love you guys a lot!

Hola Familia,

It seems like you guys are doing okay and are pretty busy with school and other things! I saw the picture and the videos! Its crazy to think that Maddie is already a Senior.

So this last week has been a pretty crazy week too! The month of September has been quite a month! It has been filled with a ton of stuff to do! I am just waiting for the moment where I can just take a deep breath and say- "It's over". It's kind of like when Frodo finally destroyed the ring! hahahaha!

This week we are going to help marry a family that is going to get baptized this Saturday. The ward is throwing the reception and its going to be super awesome! I'm really excited for this Saturday! Please pray that everything will go well and that it will all be super awesome! I'll definitely be sending pictures and stuff like that!

So at the moment my companion and I are searching for new people to baptize in October. We have a few goals, but right now were kinda empty. I know the work is the Lord's and if were obedient he will bless us with the people that He's preparing for us to teach. I like searching for new people, you get to know all kinds of people and see all different kinds of personalities. It's really cool and sometimes they're really funny!

Well that's about all that's happening. No, i didn't feel the Earthquake. To be honest, I haven't felt an earthquake since Mother's Day, when we talked on Skype. It's weird to be in an Earthquake.

Love you guys a lot!

Hola Familia!

Well... we had quite a crazy week! It's probably one of the craziest weeks that I've ever had on my mission! It was filled with challenges and stuff like that, but we trusted in the Lord, and through the acts of our faith everything seems to be going much better.

Our single mom got baptized with her daughter on Saturday! It was awesome and the spirit was felt extremely strong! I forgot my camera again, so you're gonna have to wait a little bit longer to see photos. Sorry Mom!!! We also had interviews with President Erickson, those are always great!!

So this past week I've definitely learned to trust in the Lord even more. I have definitely learned that his ways are definitely not our ways, but his ways are ALWAYS for our benefit. During the week D&C 121 and 122 kept coming to mind. Our challenges are for our benefit. It's really true that the Lord Jesus Christ has suffered all. He has gone beneath everything to give us the opportunity and hope of returning to live with our Heavenly Father again. I'm extremely grateful for my Savior.

Well, we are going to marry a couple this month, and the bride is going to get baptized. The groom still needs to attend church more, but they're both progressing. Please pray for them!

Love you guys a lot!
-Elder Wilson

P.S. For Christmas I need, Reese's, more Reese's and more Reese's. Oreos, ummmmm socks would be nice, and other stuff. I don't really know right now, you should just buy candies and stuff like that. I can buy just about everything I need here.

It seems like you guys have had quite a busy week and that lots of interesting things have happened! That is crazy that Addie Jones is getting married! I can still remember when Brother Jones came up to me and asked me about BYU-I and I told him that it was very possible that his daughter would get married really fast, well I guess I didn't lie ha!ha!. That's awesome that Cara is going to go on her mission soon! My advice for Cara would be to study chapter 3 and 10 of Preach My Gospel. That will help a lot, oh and Read the Book of Mormon and pray to see if it's true. If that Book is true, EVERYTHING is true.

So the last week was awesome!! We found some new people to teach and had a baptism! It was great! A 12 year old boy got baptized and all of his family attended. It was awesome! I forgot my camera cable so I can't upload photos until next week! So just be patient! This week we might have 2 baptisms. A single mom and her 9 year old daughter! Please pray for this family!

I would love to tell you guys more, but the Zone Leaders just called me and it's time for us to go. I'm okay and happy!!

Love you guys tons!

Hola Familia!

So you guy have had quite a busy and awesome week!

Last week was extremely busy and awesome! We had the wonderful opportunity to be instructed and taught by an apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. He really taught us well! He explained to us that in the church, whenever someone teaches,us we often want to be objects acted upon instead of agents to act. However, as sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father, we have been given something called agency. He helped us understand that when we teach we have to treat people as Agents, not as an object to act upon. As agents we act, and from acting true learning comes. I learned tons and am going to put it into practice when we teach. It was awesome.

We had a baptism last week! It was awesome! We baptized the father of 2 recent converts! The son had the chance to baptize his dad, and he did it! It was probably one of the most amazing baptisms that I've ever seen! There are photos on dropbox. Our convert is awesome! He really wants to change his life and dedicate it to his family now. It's an awesome change that he has had!

This week we are going to have another baptism. A 12 year old boy who has been attending church for about 5 months now. Everyone thought that he was a member, well turns out hes not. We've been teaching him the lessons and we are going to baptize him this week. We are also teaching a single mom and her daughters. They have a goal for September 12th. It's gonna be awesome! We're still looking for birth certificates.

Well I love you guys!

Hola Familia!

It sure sounds like you guys have had quite a crazy week with the court of honor and the campout at camp Hulaco.

We've had quite an amazing week! We found some great people knocking doors and we had 11 investigators attend church on Sunday! September is starting to look really good! We had 4 families attend church yesterday. 3 of them need to get married and the other is a Single Mom with her 3 daughters. It was really great. The members of the ward helped a lot and it was just awesome.

This week we might have a baptism. We're gonna find out on Wednesday. I have a lot of faith that it's going to happen. Please pray for my investigator.

So, something really cool that I haven't told you guys for about 3 weeks.... haha! sorry! is that this Thursday, Elder Bednar is going to visit our mission! We're going to have the chance to listen to him and learn a ton! I'm really excited! I'm going to take lots of notes and share some of the things that he teaches us.

Well I'm okay, I'm not sick, and I'm really happy! So don't worry about me.

Love you guys!

Hola Familia!

This week I'm going to write you guys first! So it seems like you guys are having a great time up there in Alabama! It's crazy that you guys are already starting school again!. It seems like you guys just got out, and wow Maddie is a senior in high school.... I remember my senior year. It was awesome!

This last week I completed a year on the mission! To be honest with you guys, it feels like I still just got here. It's really weird. I can definitely say that this last year has been the best year of my life so far! Im hoping that this coming year will be even better!

We've been working really hard and we're now starting to see the blessings of the Lord from working and being obedient. The birth certificates are on their way and we've found some new people to teach and help be baptized. Our next baptism could be the 29th of this month. We've been teaching him for the last month or so, he's progressing really well, and he's reading his Book of Mormon and praying everyday. If he attends church one more time he'll be ready to be baptized!
I'm so excited!
He's about 57 years old and wants to follow and come unto Christ! Its awesome!

Hola Familia!

Well this week I again don't have much time to write you! I'm getting more letters now, which is nice, but I have to write President, so it seems like I should write you guys first from now on!

We had a baptism this past week! It was awesome! I'll be putting up photos next week! So my investigators are great! They're progressing and my apartment is nice.  Unfortunately, Lima doesn't want to help the Church with marriages anymore so were trying to find a solution there.

I have a year now! That went by really fast!

I love you guys!

Hola Familia,

So it seems like you guys have had a great week! You are already going back to school? Wow, time sure does fly fast! So I've had a pretty awesome and successful week!

Since my companion and I are both new to the area and are trying to get to everything- the converts, less active members, and the investigators, it has been hard, but the Lord has really helped us with this. We know the area pretty well and almost all of the converts, and investigators. When we put all of our faith in the Lord he will help us with everything! So we have a baptismal date set for August! We are teaching a 16 year old guy who wants to get baptized and his parents say it's okay! We also shared the message of the Restored gospel of Jesus Christ with his parents. They need to get married, so we're going to trust in the Lord on that one. The young man is going to get baptized on the 8th of August! If you guys would pray for him it would be awesome!

We also are going to help marry and baptize 2 families in August! We're trying to find the birth certificates so that they can get married! They're really progressing well. We just need to be obedient to the Lord and I know they will get married and baptized at the end of August!

So our area is a lot different from the other 2 areas that I have Iived! This one is flat and is a lot richer. I've seen Mercedes Benz and Audi cars in this area, so the people reject us more. It's still relatively poor, but all the people are happy!

I have a feeling that I'm going to learn quite a lot in this area! Well that's it! I hope that you guys have a great week! I'm sure i will! The mission is awesome!

Love you guys!

Hola Familia,

So It sounds like you guys had quite a great week! Well I'm not in Las Galeras anymore! We had transfers and now I'm in an area called Buenos Aires, like the capital of Argentina! and my companions name is Elder Mayta! He's also from Peru! So from what I've seen this area is much more flat then my other! Its really nice!

We both are new in the area. Elder Mayta has been here for only 2 weeks and I've been here for 6 days. We are getting to know the area together! I'm definitely going to learn a lot in this area! Right now I'm just trusting in the Lord and I know that he will show us where to go and who to teach!

We're teaching some really great people who are progressing! They attended church and are reading and praying every single day! They are really great! If we work hard and if it's the Lord's will, we're going to have baptisms in August. Their are a few families that want to get married in August so we're going to help them with that!

So thats really about it. I'm sure I'll have more to talk about next Monday. ha!ha! I hope that you guys are okay and that you have a great week!

Love you guys a lot!

Hola Familia!

This week is our transfer week! I've been here in Las Galeras for 6 months now! How crazy is that! Soooooooo... I'm probably heading off to another part of the mission now! I'm not sad, but I'm definitely going to miss the people that I've met here in Las Galeras and the wonderful times and sacred experiences that I've had. Well thats if I go, there's still a chance that I'll stay but it's very small. Maybe  next week I'll be writing you guys from a different internet cafe! I'll know the changes in about 2 hours.

This week we've been teaching and finding new people to teach as usual, but we've been focusing on the baptismal dates that we have with our investigators. Right now were working with 2 people that are going to be baptized the 25th of this month. They're really awesome, they're doing all the things necessary so that they know for themselves that the church is true. As missionaries we don't convert ANYONE. I haven't converted anyone on my mission, the Spirit has. God uses us as a pathway so that the investigators can feel the spirit of God and be converted. We just teach the lesson, God does the converting.  They're doing really well. It's awesome! I really, really hope that they get baptized this month!

I am extremely grateful for the prayers that you guys have been saying. I have really seen the results of them during my time here. All of the converts that I've had here in Las Galeras are attending church every week and the men are blessing the sacraments and passing it. One of them even gave an amazing talk in sacrament meeting. I am extremely happy about this. I dont think that I've ever been as happy as I am now in the mission. God makes us happy. Nothing else.  He gives us commandments so that we can follow them and be happy!

Well, thats about all! Ill try to upload more photos today! I have like 300 more- hahahaha!

Love you guys so much!

Hola Familia!

So I forgot that last week was the 4th of July... Does that mean I'm not American anymore? I suppose so hahahaha!. No, I'm still a Gringo like you guys! So I saw the pictures on dropbox. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun on the 4th of July and at the Futbol game!

I've been living through the Copa America. Whenever Peru was playing NOBODY was in the street. Everyone was in their house watching the match and whenever Peru scored a goal it went from complete silence to complete chaos. People starting screaming goal, there were fireworks horns and everything! It was awesome! We definitely knew when Peru won! It was really awesome and funny! Peru won 3rd place! Peru plays pretty well. I wouldn't be surprised if they're in the next World Cup. One of my Zone leaders is from Chili. Hes really happy! hahaha!

This week we've been teaching and preaching like always. We found a new family that wants to get baptized, but like the last family they need to get married. We also are teaching a few other people that are starting to progress. They're reading the Book of Mormon more often and are starting to attend church! It's really awesome!

Yesterday was fast and testimony meeting. It's most likely the last one I'll have here in this ward because I have been here 6 months now. I bore my testimony about how keeping the commandments of God makes us happy. It was great I felt the spirit strongly while bearing my testimony.

Also, I had a cool missionary moment yesterday. We were walking to our next appointment and there was a group of about 50 people that were all talking about paving the road with concrete. The road is all dirt. One of them yelled out " Creo que este gringo puede pagarlo! " (I think that this American can pay for it!) The gentleman thought that I couldn't understand him, so he yelled out something a little bit rude. Well I understood and said to him "Hermano no puedo pagarlo! No tengo plata por una pista asi!" (Brother, I can't pay for it! I dont have money for a street like that!) He was extremely surprised that I understood him and starting laughing. We walked about 15 steps more and I received a strong impression to go back and contact the 50 people that were there. So I did it. I turned around went back and said:

("Hey brother , we are missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We share a message about God and Jesus Christ and you are invited to church on Sunday at 8 am . I promise in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that by listening to the message that we share, you are going to change and improve your lives, will leave the bad things in your life and be born again. You are all invited to the church Sunday at 8 in the morning. ")

You guys can go translate that. They were all silent. None of them spoke a word. They only said "Gracias". It was awesome. I won't forget that experience. I felt the spirit work within me to call those people to repent of their sins and come unto their Savior Jesus Christ. I love being a missionary!

Love you guys!

Hola Familia!

It looks like you guys have had quite an amazing and eventful week! Full of Youth Conference and other awesome stuff! I hope everyone had a great time at Youth Conference and that they paid attention to what the Speakers had to say.

So we've had an amazing week also! The family that we have been working with finally got married and baptized! The wedding was beautiful, El Parque de las Aguas is extremely beautiful. The Couple was very happy that they got to have a wedding as beautiful as it was! Hopefully I'll put up photos today or tomorrow! The following day the family, members of the ward, and us gathered together in the Chapel for their Baptisms. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. It is something very sacred to me and in a year I'll probably share it with you guys, but if I wrote it on here it wouldn't do it justice. So I'll tell you guys about it in a year!
I'm so happy that the Lord gave us the opportunity to meet and help this family. To help them get to know their Savior and to make covenants with him. It is a miracle that this family got married and baptized. Our Heavenly Father is a God of miracles and if we have sufficient faith he can work miracles in our lives! (see Ether 12:12) If we have faith, we have to be willing to show it by making changes and repenting of the things that we have done wrong and asking the lord for forgiveness. (See Alma 34:17)

So during this transfer I have really gained a testimony about keeping the commandments. By keeping all of the commandments that the Lord gives us, we Will Be Happy. God doesn't give us commandments to put restrictions on our lives and to make our lives boring. It is the Opposite! Sometimes we ask ourselves why God wants us to do certain things or not do certain things and we try to make judgement about why he gave us a certain commandment. There is something very important that the prophet Nephi teaches us. (Im going to write the Scripture in Spanish and translate it literally so that you guys can understand it.) it says,

"Dios no hace nada a menos que sea para el beneficio del mundo; porque el ama al mundo, al grado de dar su propia vida para traer a todos los hombres a el. Por tanto, a nadie manda el que no participe de su salvacion" - 2nd Nephi 26:24

Literally it says " God doesn't do anything unless it is for the benefit of the world, because he loves the world, to the degree of giving his own life for the world in order to bring all men to him. Wherefore, to none he commands to NOT participate in his salvation" That's what it says translated literally.

God has done everything, does everything, and will do everything according to his wisdom. (see 2 Nephi 2:24) Sometimes we don't understand why a commandment is the way it is, but it doesn't matter, Our Heavenly Father already knows why, and it's for our benefit. I promise you guys that by keeping the commandments of God You Will Be Happy.

Well I hope you guys have a great week this week! I know I will!
Be safe and remember to do the things you should do!
Love you guys!

Hola Familia!

So it seems like you guys have had quite a great, but busy week! I hope you guys enjoyed the camps you went to and that you learned a lot! I had a pretty busy week too!

We've been waiting for the birth certificates of the family that are going to get married and baptized, annnnnnnnnnnd THEY CAME! Monday night we received a call from the offices that they arrived and we needed to go to Comas, (The other side of the mission) to pick them up and get some other stuff, so that they could get married! So we rushed and got on the bus that took us to Comas. The next day we went to the center of Lima and registered our family to get married in El Parque de la Aguas! We're really excited! We also met a new investigator that wants to get baptized! He's 20, his brother is less active, but he wants to come back to church too! The Lord really does bless us with work, IF we work. We have to demonstrate our willingness to follow the rules of the mission and obey the commandments, so that he can bless us with ALL that we need. Without God we wouldn't be able to do anything!

We have baptisms this week! The family is going to get married and baptized! I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity that I have to help them feel the spirit and be converted by it!

I'm gonna record a video, and TRY to upload it for Carter. No promises, but I will record something!

So that's about it! I'm not sick and I Love the mission!

Love you guys a lot!
